Sadly, the time has come...

As the title of this post suggests I am leaving on maternity leave sooner than expected. I had originally hoped to be able to work until the 30th of November. Unfortunately, Baby Keay has changed these plans and my OB is informing me that I have to be done work no later than November 16th. He wanted me to be finished last Friday, but I insisted on finishing the term to interviews with my students.
Baby Keay is healthy and growing fine but my health is declining and I have been having some complications that need to be addressed. I am now 36 weeks along and will likely deliver pre-term.

My last day with my wonderful class will be Thursday, November 15th. I will be present for interviews on Thursday evening as it stands right now. Should this change as this week progresses I will be in touch to let you know and to chat with you via telephone. If you don't hear from me, please assume that I will be present at interviews and come in to meet with me to discuss your child's progress. I am looking forward to meeting with you Thursday!

I know that everyone (including myself) are wondering who will be replacing me for the remainder of this school year. That is still to be determined. The hiring process has begun and I will inform you via the blog as soon as I know who the permanent occasional teacher for the remainder of the school year will be.

I know that the kids will be fine, they have each other, they all have wonderfully supportive parents, and they have many established routines and practices in place to help guide them through this transitional time. I will be in communication with the occasional teacher to make sure that questions are answered and that the kids' individual needs are being met. If you have any further questions or concerns please don't hesitate to contact me at school this week.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing your wonderful children with me this fall! They are a truly wonderful, talented and amazing group! I'm really going to miss seeing their smiling, loving faces every day. They have touched my heart permanently!  They will always be part of my family and I look forward to seeing their growth over the course of this year.

Sincerely,
Madame Keay
